What to Wear & Pack

Bangladesh October Clothes
 Clothes & Shoes:
It is hot during the day so you can wear light and breathable summer clothes, such as a polo shirt and shorts, short sleeves, wide-leg pants. Midi and Maxi dresses are also good choices for ladies. As it may be cooler at night, you’d better take a thin coat or jacket to keep warm. Moreover, you’d better pack a pair of comfortable hiking shoes for long walking.

 Accessories:
Remember to take a sun-protective gear as the sunshine is strong during the day. You may also pack rain gear in case of the sudden rain. Moreover, insect repellent spray is necessary as well.

 Notes:
1. Do not wear revealing clothes as most Bengalis follow Islam.
2. If you plan to visit a religious site, please check the dress code in advance, as you will not be admitted with clothes that do not meet the rules.

October Travel Guide – Where to Go & What to Do

Tourism Rate:

1.  Durga Puja

Every year, Durga Puja is held in September or October in Bangladesh. It is celebrated on October 11, 2024, and September 30, 2025 to mark the triumph of Goddess Durga, the most worshipped goddess in Hinduism, over evil. The festival lasts for five days, with parties, parades, and beautifully decorated mandaps (festival pavilions), where Goddess Durga's statue is worshipped and installed nationwide. Usually, the biggest mandap is in Dhaka. On the third day of the festival, people will pray to Goddess Durga for peace. But before that they will elect girls between the ages of 1 and 16 to be “Durga”. People will also paint each other's faces during the festival to express their blessings. On the fifth day, the festival ends with the immersion of the models of Goddess Durga in the river.

Daka is celebrated with utmost pomp every year, so it is the best choice to experience the traditional customs of Gurga Puja and enjoy the most spectacular mandaps.

2. Kaptai Lake

Kaptai Lake is the largest artificial lake in Bangladesh, scattered with small islands. You can cruise, explore those isles, and enjoy fishing here. Hills surround the lake, and the Bilaichhari Hilltop is the most popular tourist attraction, where you can get a panoramic view. The Hanging Bridge, connecting the two shores of the lake, is also worth a visit as a landmark, from which you can get a staunch view of the lake and hills.

It should be noted that foreign tourists are not allowed to visit some attractions on the lake.

Shuvalong Falls is near Kaptai Lake, which you can reach by boat. The scenery on the way is magnificent: you'll cross the main lake, then see an island planted with banana trees, and after crossing a steep gorge, the waterfall finally comes into your view. Shuvalong Falls is a trickle most of the time in a year. But due to a lot of rainfall during the rainy season, it glows vitality and vigor in October. The waterfall becomes brimming, and the water pours down from the top of the mountain. Apart from enjoying the natural beauty around Kaptai Lake, you can also visit some of the local tribal villages where you can try the regional specialties like bamboo shoot curry, pitha (a kind of sweet made of rice flour and jaggery) and bamboo chicken.

3. Bandarban

In October, thanks to enough precipitation, the waterscapes are more attracting, and it is the right time to travel to Bandarban to enjoy the lakes and waterfalls. For example, you can go to Boga Lake, which is one of Bangladesh's most beautiful natural lakes and is loved by many tourists. At night, you can camp by the water and have a bonfire with friends and family, which will leave you with unforgettable memories. Moreover, Nafakhum Waterfall will give you a different experience if you love adventure. You can trek through the lush forest of Bandarban to the waterfall. The water cascades down from the top of the mountain, splashing and misting in the air. If the sun is shining, you may even see a rainbow here.
