Bangladesh Weather in July

Season: Rainy Season or Monsoon Season

In short: sweltering, wettest month, and floods may attack

Bangladesh Forest
Bangladesh Forest in July

Entering the rainy season or monsoon season, July is the rainiest month of the year in Bangladesh. In other words, the rainfall increases greatly, reaching a total of 504 mm (1.65 in) monthly rainfall on average, and almost every day of the month has rain. The weather is still sweltering, with an average maximum temperature of 31°C(87.8℉) and a minimum of 26°C(78.8℉). Instead of bringing coolness to Bangladesh, the large rainfall will likely cause floods, coupled with the low terrain, the dense river networks, and the poor drainage system. Overall, July is not a nice time to visit Bangladesh. But there are still attractions worth visiting this month.

Tourism Rate:

1.  Barsial

In July, the guava, also known as the apple of Bangladesh, starts ripening, and the guava floating market, a unique scene of Bangladesh, begins in Barisal. The local people start selling in the early morning with a boatful of guavas, and the market lasts till around 11:00 am. You can visit the guava orchards in the morning when it's not too hot and then follow the locals to the floating market to experience the life of the native. Afterward, you can stroll along the river to see beautiful houses, bridges, schools, and roads. If the rain isn't heavy, it is also advisable to go outside sightseeing with raingear, because the view is even more stunning.

Apart from the Guava Floating Market, many historical sites scatter around Barisal. Whether the Barisal City Corporation, Oxford Mission Church, or the Guthia Mosque, all have a long history. If you are bored with human lives or architectures, you can visit Durga Sagar Dighi, the largest lake in southern Bangladesh, to see the natural beauty of Barisal. Although there is little infrastructure, you can escape the hassle and bustle of city and spend a quiet afternoon boating on the lake.
