Clothes: Considering the large temperature difference, both thick clothes like thin down coats & wool overcoats and thinner clothes like trench coats or other thin jackets are needed to pack as the outer layers. For inner layers, you could pack thin sweaters, hoodies, and long-sleeve shirts. Accordingly, males could pack jeans, sweatpants and long johns and females could pack jeans plus long johns, or thick skirts plus leggings for bottoms.

1. Top Places to Visit Cherry Blossoms
Late March is the perfect time to visit cherry blossoms in Hiroshima. At this time, the whole of Hiroshima is decorated with dreamy pink cherry blossoms. Here are some great places to see the blossoms in Hiroshima:
(1) Nishi Park: It has about 1,300 cherry blossom trees and is one of Japan’s top 100 cherry blossom viewing spots. With blossoms concentrated there, it’s a perfect destination for taking pictures. Apart from cherry blossoms, you can also see the scenery of Fukuoka and Hakata Bay from the observation desk.
(2) Maizuru Park: In late March, more than 1,000 cherry blossom trees of 19 species in the park are in full bloom, attracting crowded visitors. It is a park built around the Fukuoka Castle Ruins. The main keep is a symbol of the ruins, but now only stone foundations are left, where you can see the spectacular pink sea of blossoms and enjoy a panoramic view of Fukuoka.

(1) Both Nishi Park and Maizuru Park will hold the Cherry Blossom Festival when the cherry blossoms are in full blossom. During the festival, you can enjoy performances and taste local food. Moreover, at night, the blossoms are even more beautiful with lighting.

2. Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine
Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine is a must-see attraction that has traditional Japanese religious architecture. In early March, you can see beautiful white and red plum blossoms blooming, which is a highlight here. At the end of the month, you can also see the cherry blossoms in full bloom. In addition, on March 2, 2025, the Kyokusui-no-en Festival will be held. It is a kind of elegant ceremony where you will see performers dressed in traditional Japanese clothes sitting under plum blossoms and composing poems.
3. Ohori Park
Visiting Ohori Park in March, you will have leisure time with nature: you can enjoy cherry blossoms on cherry blossom avenue, rent a swan boat to cruise the lake, sit on a bench by the lake and laze around, and watch ducks in the water and birds in the sky. Inside the park, there is a Japanese garden, including beautiful ponds, rockeries, and two tea houses.
