Takayama Jinya was once the residence of local governor and the government office, and the only one preserved around Japan today. If you are a history buff, it is the best place to visit in Takayama, with office rooms, waiting room, tea room, prison cells, and toilets, etc. Some historical relics are displayed, and the life of ancient officers is introduced. In March, there is a special display of Hinamaturi dolls, which looked luxuriously dressed and placed on a seven-storied stepped pyramid-shaped shelf, at a corner of the hall.The problem is, visitors have to take off their shoes when entering.
