August is the peak climbing season for Mount Fuji, especially during the Obon Festival, when climbers flock to the mountain. However, the number of people allowed to reach the summit each day is limited to 4,000. Therefore, if you’re planning a hike in August 2026, be sure to make a reservation for climbing and book your accommodation in advance. Besides, climbing is prohibited between 4 p.m. and 3 a.m., so plan your hike accordingly.
