The average temperature of Cyprus in April is about 11-23°C (51.8-73.4℉), which is warm and mild. Besides, temperature of the sea also rises and visitors begin to swim in. Starting from April, Cyprus enters its dry season when the precipitation is little. In the whole April, the average rainfall is 20 mm, scattering in 4 days. Therefore, nearly 90% of the days are sunny and the time of sunlight per day in most places reaches 12 hours.    

All in all, April is one of the best months to travel in Cyprus. The temperature is extremely comfortable, which is warm but not hot and sea temperature is suitable for swimming and water sports. Besides, though the number of visitors begins to grow, it’s still much less than that of summer. 

What to Wear and Pack to Visit Cyprus in April

During the daytime, thin and light clothes like T-shirts, skirts, dresses, short shirts, and light pants are recommended. At night, thicker clothes like long-sleeve T-shirts, blouses, and jeans should be put on. As for shoes, sneakers and walking shoes could be chosen.

If you plan to swim or lie down to relax on the beaches, remember to bring swimsuits. What should be noticed is that the UV rays are strong, so sunglasses, sunhats, sunscreen and other sun protection items are needed, especially around noon and in the afternoon.

1. Ayia Napa

2. Easter

Easter is a major traditional festival in Cyprus. During the week of Easter, Mass is held every night in various churches. After Mass, people march through the streets. The day before Easter, the “Holy Fire” Ceremony, which is the grandest activity of the festival, takes place: at 12 midnight, people rush to the church for Mass, light the candles in their hands with the “Holy Fire” in the church, and bring light and hope home. Besides, on Easter, and the following Monday and Tuesday, many of Cyprus’ villages and small communities hold celebration activities and games and provide free traditional foods such as bread called “flaounes”, the soup “magiritsa” and roast lamb “souvla”. 3. Larnaca

Located on the east coast of Cyprus, Larnaca is a beautiful and historic city with many heritage sites. In April, the climate of Cyprus is comfortable and the hours of sunshine are long, making it an excellent time to travel around. During the daytime, you can relax on the beach, and at dusk, you can take a walk and enjoy the sunset, which is from 19:06 to 19:30. The sunset can be enjoyed at Larnaca Salt Lake, Finikondes Beach and Mackenzie Beach. Larnaca also has many places for diving, such as the spectacular Zenobia Wreck. What’s more, if you like cultural landscapes, you can visit the Church of Saint Lazarus and Larnaca Castle.
