To cope with the changeable weather, it is recommended to bring both thin and thick clothes such as short-sleeve t-shirts, long-sleeve t-shirts, hoodies, light sweaters, thick coats, jeans, sneakers and hiking shoes, and layering them up or peeling the off in time when the temperature changes. The temperature is not too high, so try to pack fewer summer clothing. In March, showers may fall in Spain, so pack a raincoat or an umbrella.

1. Join in Holy Week (Semana Santa)

The time of Holy Week changes every year. But it always occurs in March and April. The Holy Week in 2024 was from March 24th to 31st, and the coming Holy Week in 2025 will be from April 13th to 20th. The celebrations vary from region to region. It is more traditional and formal in central and northern regions such as Madrid, while it is more diversified in south regions. The procession, a significant occasion in Holy Week, which believers wear robes of different colors and carry crosses or statues to honor Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem. Tamborrada is another highlight of Holy Week, which is long and intense drum performance in public places. And don’t forget to try some festive delicacies such as torrijas (sweet bread), pestinos (dessert), and potaje de vigilia (fasting dishes).

2. Take Part in the Las Fallas, Valencia

The Las Fallas is held annually in Valencia from March 15th to March 19th. Firework shows, parades and flower offerings are the main activities. Fallas, are magnificent paper and plastic ninots about 30 meters high, with odd shapes and a clear sense of criticism and irony. These ninots will be burned at March 19 to welcome the arrival of spring. During the Las Fallas, there are also feasts, floats, bullfights and other activities. People here dress in silk gowns, with a reminiscent of Valencia’s 18th-century fashion. It’s a fantastic chance to fully experience the festive spirit of Valencia. 3. Madrid City Exploration with Flowers Appreciation
