Spain weather in February is still cold in general. The average monthly temperature is 4-14°C (39.2°F-57.2°F). But you can feel the coming of spring when it is sunny. There are huge temperature differences from region to region. For instance, southern and coastal Spain enjoys warmer climate with average temperatures of 8-20°C (46.4-68°F), while northern Spain experiences lower temperatures of 2-10°C (35.6-50°F) on average. Although the temperature in the southern Spain is relatively high, a thick coat is still needed to protect you from strong winds.

Thick coats are essential to keep yourself warm in February in Spain. A lightweight down jacket or outdoor jacket may be a wiser choice, because they won’t take up too much space in your suitcase and sufficient to adapt to the day-to-night temperature difference. You can even wear short sleeves when sunbathing in coastal cities during the midday hours. For other inner layers, pack some long-sleeve t-shirt, a thin sweater or a hoodie. When selecting pants, keep in mind that pants with good wind resistance are better.

1. The Almond Blossom Festival (Fiesta del Almendro en Flor de Tejeda) in Tejeda

Tejeda, the most beautiful town in Canary Islands, hosts the Almond Blossom Festival in early February every year. There are 150,000 apricot trees there, so you can fully appreciate the lovely apricot blossoms. During the festival, there are also stalls filled with handicrafts and gourmet products like wrinkled potatoes and fried sardines. 2. Tenerife Carnival (Carnaval de Santa Cruz de Tenerife) 

Tenerife Carnival is one of the largest, longest lasting and most spectacular carnivals in the world, and it attracts about one million visitors from all over the world every year. The date is not fixed each year, but it often takes place 40 days before La Semana Santa in February. In 2024, it was taken place from January 12nd to February 18th and it will be celebrated from January 31st to March 9th in 2025. The main activities of the Tenerife Carnival include costume parades, art performances, Carnival queen election, and sardine burial. The theme of the carnival is different every year, and people will dress up as various characters and have parties in the streets all day and night. At the end of the festival, local people burn a giant hand-painted sardine and throw it into sea, which symbolizes burning away the vices and sins of the carnival. Also, don’t forget to visit the Teide in Tenerife in your trip, the third largest volcano in the world.

3. Sevilla

Located in southern Spain, Sevilla is one of the warmest cities in February, so it is suitable for travel.
