What is the Ifaty weather like?
1. Located in the subtropical zone, the temperature is high throughout the year, with the average maximum temperature of around 30℃ (86℉). Even in July, the coolest month throughout the year, the lowest temperature can reach 14℃ (57℉).
2. The overall rainfall is not very high, with an annual precipitation of 445 mm on average. In a year, there are more than 300 sunny days. The rain is mostly concentrated in the rainy season from December to March. Even in the rainiest month of the year, the average rainfall is stabilized at around 100 mm, and the number of rainy days in a month usually does not exceed 10 days. 
3. Except for June and July, the ultraviolet rays are very strong. From October to March, the ultraviolet index even reaches 11.

The dry season from April to November is the best time to visit Ifaty. During this period, there is only a little rainfall. The sunny weather of Ifaty and the long sunshine hours will provide you with good traveling conditions. Moreover, the temperature at this time is not as high as that of the rainy season.

Overall, Ifaty is warm during this period, and it can be a little hot at noon sometimes. However, the temperature difference between day and night is relatively large, especially in the months from June to August. At night, the temperature may be less than 20℃ (68℉), somehow cool. The total rainfall of the 8 months is very low, occupying 21% of the annual rainfall, and you may feel a little dry. The average sunshine hours of this season are about 10. However, it should be noted that ultraviolet rays are very strong, so be sure to take sun protection measures.

Clothes to Wear: 
In most time of the daytime, you only need to wear thin summer clothes. In specific, girls can wear dresses or T-shirts plus skirts; while boys can wear short shirts plus shorts or light long pants. However, at night with lower temperature, you are advised to add a shirt or thin jacket. As for shoes, it is recommended that you carry both flip-flops for beach activities and sneakers for hiking in wild reserves.

Travel Recommendation and Tips: 
1. From July to September every year, Ifaty welcomes its whale-watching season. If you plan to visit Ifaty during this period in 2025, it’s recommended that you take a speedboat to see humpback whales up close.
2. The dry season with clear weather is also perfect for visiting Reniala Reserve, where ancient baobab trees stand tall and untold numbers of unique wildlife thrive.

During this season, Ifaty usually has high temperature, with the average high of above 30℃ (86℉) every month. As a result, you may feel hot most of the time. Although it is the rainy season, the rainfall is not particularly heavy compared to other destinations in Madagascar such as Antananarivo and Nosy Be. With an average of 6 rainy days per month, you can still find continuous sunny days to visit Ifaty based on the weather forecast.

Wet Ifaty in Rainy Season

Clothes to Wear: 
Because of the hot and rainy climate of Ifaty this season, you are advised to pack some thin, breathable, and preferably quick-drying summer clothes. For example, you can bring tank tops, T-shirts, short skirts and shorts. Traveling to Ifaty during this period, shoes that are resistant to dirt and water, such as sandals, and breathable, water-proof, and dark-colored hiking shoes, are good choices for you. 

Travel Recommendation and Tips: 
1. With high temperature in these months, the beautiful beaches of Ifaty, which are cooler than inland areas, might be better destinations. In the midday, you can go swimming or do some water sports to cool yourself down. At dusk, when the temperature is not so high, you can sit on the beach and watch the sunset. In addition, with nice corals and interesting marine animals, Ifaty is a great place for diving. 
2. Going to a fishing village to experience the life of local fishermen is also a good choice.
