Kyoto Subway Pass

When traveling in Kyoto, especially visiting attractions in central Kyoto, subways and buses are convenient ways. Here are some subway passes by which you can take the Kyoto Subway and other valid vehicles including buses and private railway timelessly in valid time. In addition, these subway passes include ticket discounts on some tourist attractions in Kyoto.

1. Kyoto City Subway 1-Day Pass

Valid vehicles and routes: Kyoto City Subway – all lines 

Valid time: 1 day 

Note that one valid day is to the last train that day, even if the running hour of the last train is beyond 24:00.

Advance-ticket & Same-day ticket: 

Kyoto City Subway 1-Day Pass has advance-ticket and same –day ticket. The advance ticket can be used on any day after you buy it, while the same-day ticket, which is purchased on the ticket vending machines, is only valid on the day of purchase.

Prices: 800 yen for each adult; 400 yen for each child
Where to buy: Ticket offices and ticket machines at all subway stations in Kyoto
Extra discounts:Ticket discounts on Nijo Castle, Kyoto Railway Museum, Yoshimoto Gion-Kagetsu, Cultural Museum of Kyoto, and other tourist attractions in Kyoto are available. 
Tip: If you buy a Kansai Area Pass, one pass supporting taking JR trains, you can get a Kyoto City Subway 1-Day pass for free.


2. Subway & Bus 1-day Pass

The pass is economical to visit tourist attractions in central Kyoto by bus, as the average fee for taking a bus in Kyoto is 230 yen each time. 

Prices: 1,100 yen for each adult; 550 yen for each child
Valid time: 1 day 
The pass begins to be valid the day you start to use it, so you can buy it in advance.
Valid vehicles and routes: 

  Kyoto City Subway and City Bus: all lines
  West Japan JR Bus: Takao-Keihoku Line from Kyot Station to Toganoo Station
  Keihan Bus: Yamashina, Daigo, and the central area of Kyoto
  Kyoto Bus: Within Oharam, Ichihara, Daikakuji, Kiyotaki, Kokedera, Iwakura Muramatsu, and Iwakura Jissoin Temple

Where to buy: Apart from all subway stations in Kyoto, you can also buy it on city buses from drivers, convenience stores like 7-11, and even from some hotel counters. 
Extra discounts: You can get ticket discounts on more than 60 tourist attractions in Kyoto, including Kitano-tenmangu Shrine, Kegonji Temple, and Otagi Nenbutsuji Temple. 


3. Kyoto City Subway and Randen One-day Pass

Valid vehicles and routes: 
  Kyoto Subway: all lines
  Keifuku Railway: all lines
Valid time: 1 day
Price: 1,300 yen for each adult
Where to buy: all Kyoto subway stations and Randen Railway stations like Arashiyama Station and Shijo-Omiya Station
Extra discounts: You can get ticket discounts on Toei Kyoto Studio Park. 
Suitable for whom: Visitors planning to travel between downtown area in Kyoto and Arashiyama

4. Subway & Eiden: Kurama/Kibune Day Trip Ticket

Valid time: 1 day
Valid vehicles and routes: 
  Kyoto Subway: all lines
  Eizan Subway: all lines
  Keihan Railway: between Sanjo Station and Demachiyanagi Station
Price: 2,000 yen for each ticket
Where to buy: Eizan Railway Demachiyanagi Station, Kyoto City Bus and Subway Information Centers, and Kansai Tourist Information Center Kyoto
Extra Discounts: You can get ticket discounts on temples or shrines along Eizan Railway. 

In addition to subway passes, you can also use ICOCA or Kansai One Pass, which are the most common storage transportation cards in Kyoto and Kansai, as well as IC cards like Suica.
