Kansai Railway Pass

Kansai Railway Pass is an all-inclusive transportation pass. With it, you can take private trains and subways in Kansai region timelessly on valid days, including Osaka, Kyoto, Kobe, Himeji, Nara, Wakayama, Shiga, and other areas. Still, JR trains, Shinkansen, and buses are not supported.

How long can I use Kansai Railway Pass?

Kansai Railway Pass has a 2-day version and a 3-day version and supports non-continuous days. One valid day is from the first train to the last train that day, even if the last running hour is beyond 24:00.

What vehicles can I take with a Kansai Railway Pass?

With a Kansai Railway Pass, you can take about 20 subway lines and private railway lines in Kansai. Beyond designated areas, extra fees would be charged.

Some private railways are not supported by Kansai Railway Pass, including below ones:
1. Kinki Nippon Railway: Domyoji Line, Tawaramoto Line, Osaka Line East of Aoyamacho, and Yoshino Line South of Tsubosakayama. 
2. Sanyo Electric Railways: Sumaura Ropeway
3. Osaka Metro: Between Cosmosquare Station and Yumeshima Station

In addition, when taking reserved seats on limited express trains in the Kintetsu Railway, Nankai Electric Railway, Semboku Rapid Railway, and Keihan Electric Railway lines, you need to buy an extra express ticket, special coach ticket, or a reserved ticket. 

How much is Kansai Railway Pass?

For the 2-day version, an adult pays 5,600 yen and each child 2,800 yen. As for the 3-day version, each adult pays 7,000 yen and each child 3,500 yen.

How to use Kansai Railway Pass when taking vehicles?

Insert the Pass into the ticket-checking machine before you enter and exit the station. Or you can show your Pass to the staff if there are no ticket-checking machines at the stations.

What can I do if my Pass is demagnetized?

If your Pass is demagnetized and becomes unusable, then you can reapply for a new Pass at all subway stations of Kyoto Subway & Osaka Subway, some Kobe Subway stations, and several stations of private railways supported by Kansai Railway Pass. You only need to pay the service fees. However, if card is lost, then you need buy a new card at the original price.

Can I refund the Kansai Railway Pass?

The unused Kansai Railway Pass can be refunded with some service fees. To refund it, please go to the place where you bought the Pass.
