In April, Karakorum expects the end of its long and freezing winter and welcomes the transitional period to spring. What to Wear in April in Karakorum?

Upper body: It is mainly recommended to prepare long-sleeved shirts, knit wear, hoodies for inner layer and you can wear them alone around noon or on warm days. For cold morning and evening, 3-in-1 windbreaker is the best choice since you can adjust its layers based on your feelings. Heavy coats such as leather coats, woolen coats and thin down jackets are good alternatives as well.

Lower body: Jeans, jacket trousers, and sweatpants are suitable in most time, but considering the unstable climate of Karakorum in April, you had better bring long johns or fleece-lined trousers just in case. 

Shoes: You might need to trudge on slopes and rugged roads when go sightseeing outside, so it is suggested to choose comfortable sneakers or non-slippery walking boots to help you walk more stably.

1. Kharakhorum Museum has extended its opening time for 3 hours and keeps open from 9:00 to 20:00 since April 1. You may know this to plan your itinerary accordingly. 

2. The melting degree of frozen Orkhon River varies in different years of April. In early April, the ice cover may get thin and cracked, too dangerous to get very closed, not to mention to walk on it. When it comes to middle April, you could see pieces of ice floating along the river and glittering under bright sunshine. During late April, it mostly has melted completely and runs gently forward.
