Clothing and Packing Guide

Greece February Clothes

According to the climate of Greece in February, packing sweaters, thin down coats and thick sweat pants is a wise choice. If you are not afraid of cold, you can wear a hoodie or long-sleeve T-shirt alone at the sunny and warm noon. But if you do not like the low temperature, thin scarf and gloves can be packed to protect you against the cold. In the rainy season, sneakers are advised; if you plan to go hiking, it is better to take with waterproof and non-slip walking shoes.

Besides, raincoat is a must. If you prefer the umbrella, please prepare a sturdy one to resist winds. There is no need to bring shoe covers actually because it doesn’t rain all day and it is not easy to have standing water on the ground.

Travel Recommendations

Tourism Rate:

Touring around Santorini

Mediterranean islands are must-see places for tourists traveling to Greece. Actually, February is the slack season for island tour when many services for tourists are closed. If you want to go to islands in this month, Santorini is a relatively good choice because it has some year-round tourist infrastructures and is one of the warmest destinations in Greece.

You can wander around the island at a leisurely pace, lie down on the soft beach to enjoy warm sunshine on sunny days, take pictures without others being caught, and watch the “most beautiful sunset” in Oia at dusk. You can also go sightseeing to Nea Kameni, an active volcanic island not far from Santorini where you can explore several dormant and active craters. Near the volcano, there is also a natural hot spring. Soaking in the hot springs in winter is a nice enjoyment. You can also swim and do a spa to relieve physical and mental stress.

Skiing on Greek Mountains

If traveling to Greece in February, skiing will be the best experience you can’t miss.

There are several ski resorts in Greece where you can have great fun. Pelion Ski Resort is a ski resort that many people dream of. Every winter, its peaks are covered in thick snow, forming natural ski fields. While skiing on Mount Pelion, you’ll enjoy the views of the Aegean bay, the Halkidiki Peninsula and Mount Athos, meaning that you can see snow, the sea and mountains at the same time, which is a unique experience.

Parnassos Ski Resort is the largest ski field in Greece. It is located on the Mount Parnassos, which is also home to the Archaeological site of Delphi, a religious site of the classical age of Greece. If time permits, you can also have a visit of the site.

There are some other ski resorts, such as the Elatochori Ski Resort, Falakro Ski Resort, Mainalo Ski Resort, etc. You are free to choose as you wish.

Apokries, the Greek Carnival

Apokries, lasting for over three weeks, is a traditional religious festival that marks the end of meat eating and the beginning of fasting. During the three weeks, there are a series of colorful celebrations including parades, concerts, dance performances, and various social gatherings. In parades, people will dress up in a variety of costumes and make up into various characters. Almost all activities are open to tourists. In 2025, the celebration for Apokries will start in around mid-February. If you are there, you can join them for fun.
