This morning, your guide and driver will first take you to Melasti Beach, which is the southernmost beach in Bali, featuring white sand, clear turquoise sea and puffy clouds. Backed by limestone cliffs with a road following the shoreline, the beach provides an amazing vista and is famous for new couples to take wedding photos. Don’t forget to give your warm wishes if you meet them. After some leisurely time here, we’ll go to Padang-Padang Beach. Hidden under cliffs and surrounded by lush thicket, Padang-Padang is a surfing paradise with giant waves attracting surfers from around the world. Different forms of rocks are dotted on the beach. Watch out for them when taking a photo or relaxing there.

In the afternoon, let’s head to Uluwatu Temple, which is today’s highlight. The name “Uluwatu” comes from two Balinese words “ulu,” meaning “land’s end”, and “watu,” meaning “rock”. As its name suggests, it is a Balinese Hindu temple built atop a 70-meter-high (230 feet) steep limestone cliff by the sea which is called Lover’s Cliff. The history of the temple dates back to the 11th century. Overlook the deep-blue Indian Ocean and see waves crashing on the cliff from Uluwatu Temple. Let yourself intoxicated by the spectacular view. Around evening, appreciate the Kecak Fire Dance which is based on the stories of the ancient Indian epic poem Ramayana. The show will be performed on the open air theater in the temple, against the backdrop of a serene sunset. After that, you’ll be transferred back to the hotel.

► Tips:
1. In the temple there are monkeys that have been known to grab and steal things from visitors, so please follow your guide closely and take off your sunglasses, hat, jewelry and other small items.
2. It’s best to follow the dress code of the temple to wear modest clothes and have your shoulders covered. If you are in shorts, you need to wear a sarong during the visit and return it before leaving.

Today, you can enjoy a full free day at leisure. The hotel we booked for you is close to Seminyak Beach, so it will be very convenient to explore the beach on your own. If you are interested in art, visit the best known art gallery in Seminyak - Nyaman Art Gallery (Jalan Raya Basangkasa No.88, Seminyak). Most of the art pieces shown here are created by Balinese and Indonesian artists. Immerse yourself in a variety of paintings, ceramics, sculpture and tribal artworks. In the afternoon, maybe explore the Flea Market, in which fine local handicrafts and specialties are easy to find, such as hand-woven boho-chic bags and cute souvenirs. But if you want to buy something, don’t hesitate to bargain over the price.

Today, you could continue to appreciate the picturesque seascape and totally relax yourself at Seminyak Beach. Enjoy a relaxing morning on the beach to admire the coastline landscape and enjoy the sunbath. The sound of the waves and the smell of the sea breeze will bring you peace of mind. Surfing is also a good choice. There are lots of surf breaks perfect for beginners as well as skillful surfers. In the afternoon, maybe hang out in Seminyak Square (Jl. Kayu Aya No.1), a popular shopping complex with creative stores, galleries, restaurants, and cafes. If interested, you could experience Balinese massage, which is usually performed with a series of acupressure and stretching to stimulate muscles. The essential oils used are helpful for rejuvenating and relieving fatigue.

Seminyak is one of the most popular and bustling areas in Bali. In the late afternoon, you could order a cocktail at a beach club or a bar and enjoy the stunning sunset view. Potato Head Beach Club (Jl. Petitenget No.51B, Seminyak) is one of the hottest ones featuring its impressive façade made from 18th-century teak window shutters. It’s a 10-minute taxi drive from your hotel.

This morning, we will say goodbye to Seminyak and proceed to Ubud, a scenic town in the uplands of Bali with terraced rice paddies, plenty of temples and art galleries. After 1.5 hours’ drive, we’ll pay a visit to the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary, which is a combination of 3 Hindu temple complexes and a macaque nature reserve. The sanctuary is home to more than 1,260 long-tailed Balinese macaques, with lush ancient trees and statues of mythological figures. Local people believe that the monkeys living here are the subordinates of Hanuman - a deity in Hinduism who is the monkey army commander, so they built the temples and worship the monkeys as divine beings.

► Friendly Tip:
The monkeys are lively and naughty, especially if you hold food, they may gather around you and even grab it from your hand, so please be careful. Avoid eye contact with the monkeys and do not try to feed them to prevent provoking them. If you feel troubled, you can call the staff member for help.

Next, we’ll tour around the Gunung Kawi Temple, a Hindu temple complex built in memory of an ancient Balinese king and his wife and sons in the 11th century. The name of it literally means “a temple carved on a mountain”, indicating the 10 rock-cut shrines hewn into the vertical cliff face. Walk down 315 steps and admire the rice paddies and green trees along the stairway, and marvel at the fine carvings in the temple. Each of the shrines is about 10 meters high (32 ft.) with an arched top that can protect the carvings from wind and rain erosion. Covered with green moss, the temple shows a fusion of nature and history. Afterwards, we’ll visit the picturesque Tegalalang Rice Terraces, one of the most popular scenic spots in Bali. It is at an elevation of about 600 meters (1,970 ft.), for which the climate is mild and suitable for growing rice. With coconut trees in the fields and a backdrop of the majestic volcanoes, Tegalalang Rice Terraces stand out among countless terraces around the world. The fields are part of the Subak irrigation system that dates back to the 8th century and has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage. Among the terraces, local farmers may be busy weeding and you could interact with them. Watch your step while enjoying the view because the paths may be slippery. Near the rice terraces are several photo spots like the thrilling jungle swings. You could pay for an experience if you like. Finally, you’ll be escorted to check into the hotel in Ubud.

After breakfast, your private driver will pick you up at the hotel and send you to join in a silversmith class, during which you could learn how to make a special piece of silverware under the guidance of an experienced craftsman. Today, enjoy your free time in this captivating town. After waking up, you could choose to go for a short hiking or cycling through the surrounding forests and rice paddies. After breakfast, you could take a free shuttle bus from the hotel to Ubud Art Market, in which you’ll find vendors selling vegetables, fruits, spices, etc. Around noon, the market will be bustling with more shops of souvenirs and handicrafts open. Ubud is the cultural center of Bali for traditional crafts and dance performances, with a high concentration of art galleries. You could stroll through the streets adorned with colorful offerings and encounter some artworks you like. If time permits, you could also sightsee in the Ubud Palace, which is one of the landmarks in Ubud. The palace was built with more than 60 delicate rooms in the 16th century and still serves as the official residence of Sukawati royal family. Explore the authentic style of Balinese structures, and the traditional stone and wood carvings.
