St. Petersburg to Helsinki Train
The St. Petersburg - Helsinki railway line is one of the most popular train routes in Russia and five pairs of trains are in service on this route. There are two types of trains available, Allegro and Lev Tolstoy. Allegro trains are daytime high-speed trains between Russia and Finland. Lev Tolstoy trains run overnight between Moscow and Helsinki with a stop in St. Petersburg.
Allegro High-Speed Trains
Allegro trains are electric high-speed trains operating between St. Petersburg and Helsinki since December 2010. Four daily departures run this route from St. Petersburg Finlyandskiy Railway Station to Helsinki Central Railway Station, with an approximate duration of 3.5 hours. The top speed of the trains is 220 km/h, so the Allegro train offers a quick and pleasant trip for passengers. First and second class seats are available on the Allegro train, together with a restaurant and three special carriages, including carriage 2 with special seats for disabled passengers, carriage 6 for passengers with pets and carriage 7 with an area for children.

Lev Tolstoy Overnight Trains
Lev Tolstoy trains are overnight trains which run between Moscow and Helsinki, passing by St. Petersburg. The trains had been put into use since 1975 and named in honor of a famous Russian writer Leo Tolstoy. The train operates every day except Saturdays and the whole trip from Moscow to Helsinki takes about 14.5 hours. Only one pair of overnight train 032/031 serves this route in both directions. Passengers can take this train either in Moscow or in St. Petersburg according to their trip schedule. The Lev Tolstoy train is equipped with VIP 1st Class, 1st Class and 2nd Class, along with a dining cart and a specialized carriage that can transport your vehicle.Basic Facts
