Panama Island Tour & Indian Village

Today we'll start the San Blas Island tours. First we will travel to San Blas Islands on the Caribbean coast which will take about 2 hours by driving on the way. Since the necessities sold on the island are limited, it is recommended to buy some water, snacks and drinks in advance. After arriving on the Caribbean coast, we will take a boat to San Blas Islands, taking 40 minutes and then check into the hotel. In the afternoon, the guide will take you to explore the Guna Yala Community, where we will understand the lifestyle, history and culture of the community. You can also buy some handmade souvenirs to support the community.

You can arrange activities on the islands on your own today. If you need, the guide will recommend or book some beach activities for you in advance. There are different tourist routes every day on different islands. We recommend Fragata Island, Perro Island (Dog Island), Diablo Island, Starfish Island, Chichime Island, and Perro Chico. You can go snorkeling, or relax in a hammock on the beach.

On the fourth day, you will enjoy your free time on the islands in the morning. You can arrange some activities you like or just wander around. In the afternoon we'll return to Panama City.

Today we will enjoy a cruise tour on the Panama Canal to experience the essence of the world’s engineering wonder. It offers an opportunity to see how the ship locks operate and control the ships passing by firsthand. The canal tour starts in the early morning and you will be picked up by a coach to check in between 6:30 - 7:30 am at Flamenco Marina, where the cruise will start to sail to the end of the Gamboa Dredging Division. The cruise will pass through the Bridge of the Americas, Miraflores Locks, Miraflores Lake, Pedro Miguel Locks, and Centennial Bridge. After that, it is going to sail through the southern tip of the Gaillard Cut where the Chagres River flows into the canal.

On board, a professional bilingual guide will explain the history, construction and nearly all the background stories of the canal to you. Breakfast and lunch will also be served on the ship. After landing in the Gamboa Dredging Division, the trip ends here and we’ll go back to the hotel. The time left is free for you.

1. The cruise departure times will be subject to change due to the canal’s operating conditions and it will finally be decided by the Panama Canal Authority. So the check-in and departure times will be confirmed again the day before the tour via e-mail.

2. Apart from the northbound tour starting off in the early morning, the southbound canal tour at noon is available for your choice. If you want to change to the southbound one, please contact our travel expert to adjust it.

Today you will immerse yourself all day in the charm of Panama’s capital city. In the morning, we will first visit the Amador Causeway, a 3.5-km long and narrow path stretching into the Pacific Ocean, offering a leisurely morning stroll. Then head to see the Bridge of the Americas, one of the most important bridges spanning over Panama Canal. Next, we will drive to go sightseeing at Casco Viejo (San Felipe), a historic district full of charm. It is the “Old Quarter” of Panama, boasting a lot of Spanish-style colonial buildings. Walking around the area, it is delightful to appreciate neoclassical buildings and have a taste of local culture. You will also be guided to visit the France Square, where a rooster sculpture stands on an obelisk in the center, commemorating the workers and engineers who died when building the Panama Canal. At least 25,000 workers died and most of them died of yellow fever and malaria.

After that, we will go to the Miraflores Visitor Center, where you can view the iconic Panama Canal from a different angle. You can not only watch a 45-minute movie about the history of the Panama Canal, and visit the Canal Museum, but also overlook cargo ships and even cruises passing through Miraflores Locks on its large Observation Deck. Then, the journey continues to Panama Viejo - Ruins of the First Panama City, the first colonial city in Panama established by Spanish people, which was later destroyed by pirates. Today’s last stop is to explore the international Panama City and admire its beautiful skyline.

Today your vacation ends. The driver will pick you up at the hotel and transfer you to the Tocumen International Airport and see you off. Wish you a happy journey home!
