The Moscow to Vladivostok Train is the longest railway route in the world. It departs from Yaroslavsky train station in Moscow and arrives in Vladivostok after spanning two continents and six time zones. The train with 6 days on board stops in approximately 90 cities. That is the most famous and mysterious Trans-Siberian Railway. The running distance is 9,259 kilometers and the journey time is about 145 hours. The railroad was built between 1890 and 1916 under Tsars Alexander III and Nicholas II, and made its first trip in 1966.

Trans-Siberian Railway

Actually, the Trans-Siberian is a vast network of many rail routes, including the Trans-Siberian Railway (also called Trans-Russian Railway), the Trans-Mongolian Railway and the Trans-Manchurian Railway.

The Trans-Siberian Railway refers to the whole trip from Moscow to Vladivostok. A branch of this route traversing across Ulaanbaatar (in Mongolia) to Beijing is called Trans-Mongolian. And another branch bypassing Mongolia straight to China is called Trans-Manchurian.


Trains Operating the Trans-Siberian Route

Two pairs of trains are operating this route. One is the famous Rossiya Express Train No.002/001 and the other is the regular train No.100/099. 

Rossiya is considered as one of the best trains in Russia in terms of service, friendliness attendants and maintenance. Compared with train No.100/099, Rossiya is more comfortable and faster. The train No.100/099 runs a slightly different route with longer travel time.

The Rossiya train No.002/001 has 1st, 2nd and 3rd carriages, and also a restaurant carriage. Only 2nd and 3rd carriages are available on the regular train No.100/099. Hereunder is the difference between these two types of trains.
