Day 1: Luang Prabang Arrival, Visit Mount Phousi
Welcome to Luang Prabang, Laos’ ancient capital and Buddhist center. Your private guide and the driver will greet you at the airport upon your arrival and escort you to the hotel. Renowned for its laid-back and peaceful life, Laos beckons those seeking a slow life and inner serenity. On your upcoming 10 days private Laos tour, let the sincere smiles of the Lao people surf your blues away!

After a short rest, your guide will accompany you on a half-day tour to Mount Phousi, the city’s highest point. Ascend over 300 staircases dotted with numerous Buddha images and shrines, and reach the summit for expansive views of Luang Prabang, the Mekong River, and the Nam Khan River. A small temple is located on the top, where you can enjoy a stroll and catch a glimpse of what the monks do daily. If the weather permits, appreciate a breathtaking sunset. Some say that if couples watch the sunset together on Mount Phousi, they will be together forever. Although a simple romantic tale, it hints at locals’ fondness for this place. Finally, your guide will escort you back to your hotel.

If you want to linger longer on your own, ask your guide to drop you off at Luang Prabang’s largest night market at the foot of the mountain. Browse the myriad stalls for delicate souvenirs, such as handmade wallets, silver jewelry, and Laotian scarves, and sample local delicacies, like Beerlao, pancakes, and grilled skewers. Most foods cost around LAK 20,000-30,000 (USD 1-1.5) per serving. Afterward, you can either walk 15 minutes or take a local tuk-tuk back to the hotel by yourself.

 Insider Tips:
1. Since Buddhism is the predominant religion in Laos, please wear clothing that covers your shoulders and knees before entering temples and attending Buddhist events.
2. The best time to visit Laos is the dry season (Nov.-Apr.), when the average temperature is 18-28°C (64.4-82.4°F), ideal for both indoor and outdoor activities. The average temperature in the rainy season (May-Oct.) ranges from 25 to 35°C (77 to 95°F), with a maximum of 40°C (104°F), so bring cool and breathable clothing, a raincoat, sunscreen, and mosquito repellent.
