1. Nagoya Castle

Nagoya Castle, one of the three major castles in Japan, was once the family residence of the lords of nowadays Nagoya. It is famous for a pair of golden fish-like shachihoko statues standing on the roof of the Main Keep. With over 2,000 cherry blossom trees planted, it is a good place to enjoy the cherry blossom in early April, especially beautiful after lighting at night.

2. Atsuta Jingu Shrine

Atsuta Jingu Shrine stands as Japan's second-largest Shinto Shrine, surpassed only by the Ise Grand Shrine. Primarily devoted to the sacred Kusanagi sword, one of Japan's three imperial treasures, the Shrine's Bunkaden Treasure House boasts a collection of approximately 6,000 artifacts. Additionally, capturing a photo of the Goshinboku, a camphor tree over 1,000 years old, is also highly recommended.

3. Osu Kannon  

Osu Kannon built in 1333 is one of three major Kannon temples in Japan. The main hall of the temple enshrines a wooden statue of Kannon that is about 3 meters (9 feet) high. In addition, Osu Kannon holds various sacrificial activities every year, and the antique market open on 18th and 28th of each month is well-worth visiting.

After visiting Osu Kannon, it is recommended to go shopping in the Osu Shōtengai Shopping Street. This street is located on the east side of Osu Kannon, just 5 minutes walking away. There are over 1,200 shops, including many popular restaurants, dessert shops, ice cream shops, and coffee shops. 

4. Toyota Commemorative Museum of Industry and Technology 

Toyota Commemorative Museum of Industry and Technology is a witness of Toyota’s successful story starting from Automatic Weaving Mechanism, displaying textile machines and cars. It has two main sections, Textile Machinery Pavilion and Automobile Pavilion. Textile Machinery Pavilion mainly introduces spinning machines, the basic principles of spinning and weaving machines, as well as the evolution of textile machines, while Automobile Pavilion showcases automobiles and their production technologies.

5. SCMAGLEV and Railway Park

SCMAGLEV and Railway Park showcases 39 trains from ancient steam trains to high-speed maglev trains, introducing the entire development history of railway technology. The museum also features exquisite miniature railway models, Shinkansen driving simulators and traditional train driving simulators. 

6. Oasis 21 

Oasis 21, a commercial complex, is composed of multiple parts such as Spaceship-Aqua Observation Deck, Green Land, and Galaxy Square. Spaceship-Aqua Observation Deck is an elliptical glass roof with artificial waterfalls flowing. It is also a good site for tourists to enjoy the nearby scenery and take photos. Green Land is an underground park planted with about 200 trees and 1,000 flowers like cherry, making it an underground oasis of green. Galaxy Square is an underground square that often hosts various activities and exhibitions. Tourists can shop, dine, and watch performances here.  

7. Chubu Electric Power MIRAI TOWER 

Chubu Electric Power MIRAI TOWER, a landmark building in Nagoya, is the TV Tower of Nagoya. From the observation deck “Sky Deck” located 90 meters (295 feet) above ground, one can enjoy the urban scenery of Nagoya and the distant mountains.

8. Sky Promenade

Sky Promenade is the tallest building in Nagoya and the fifth tallest in Japan. The open-air observation deck on the 44th to 46th floors provides a panoramic view of the entire Nagoya city, including JR Tower on the west side, Nagoya Castle on the north side, and Nagoya Port on the south side. 

9. Legoland Japan Resort 

Legoland Japan Resort has 17,000,000 Lego bricks and 10,000 Lego models. It has 7 theme parks and over 40 amusement facilities! There are also LEGO factories and the largest LEGO store in Asia within Legoland Japan Resort, where you can find awesome LEGO souvenirs.

1. Tokugawa Park

Tokugawa Park is a Japanese-style garden where you can enjoy the marvelous scenery throughout the year, including new green, maples and flowers like peonies and irises. You can also find restaurants and shops here. 

2. Tokugawa Art Museum

The Tokugawa Art Museum was built in 1935 by Yoshichika, the nineteenth-generation head of which family. There display over 10,000 treasures, including swords, armors, tea sets and incense utensils, and various other art works like Ukiyo-e (Japanese woodblock painting) and paintings produced between the 17th and the 20th centuries, themed on landscapes, and tales from history.

3. Nagoya City Science Museum

There is the world's biggest spherical planetarium with a diameter of 35 meters, recorded in the Guinness World Records, which can be used by tourists to observe celestial bodies and the starry sky. 

4. Port Of Nagoya Public Aquarium 

Port Of Nagoya Public Aquarium, one of the largest aquariums in Japan, consists of a northern aquarium where you can view marine animals such as dolphins, beluga whales, and orcas, as well as a southern aquarium with various aquariums like living coral reefs.  

5. Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Gardens

Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Gardens is the third largest zoo in Japan. There are about 450 species of animals in the park, including the zoo’s superstar koala, tigers, lions and chimpanzees. You can also enjoy various flowers, plants, and trees in the botanical gardens.

Inside this garden, these is also an observation deck named Higashiyama Sky Tower. It is 135 meters (442 feet) high. When the weather is good, you can have a panoramic view of the Nagoya Castle, and even the distant Mount Mitake and Suzuka Mountains.

6. Nagoya City Art Museum

Nagoya City Art Museum is designed by the famous architect Kisho Kurokawa. There display a collection of approximately 6,800 works, including works from Mexican Renaissance, contemporary art, and local Japanese artists like Modigliani and Chagall.

7. Shirotori Garden

Shirotori Garden is the largest Japanese style garden centered around a pond. Taking the terrain of Chubu Region as the background, it features landscapes such as mountains, rivers, ponds, and Tea House Seiu-tei. White Bird Garden is a famous site to admire maples in Nagoya, especially from late November to early December.

8. Meijō Park 

Planted with about 1,000 cherry blossom trees, the park is a famous site for cherry blossoms appreciation in Nagoya. If looking southwest from this park, you can see the Main Keep of Nagoya Castle. 

9. Tsuruma Park

Tsuruma Park opened in 1909 is the first garden of Nagoya. There is a Western style garden at the western side and a Japanese style garden at the eastern side. The park was selected as one of the “100 Japanese cherry blossom scenic areas”. In addition to cherry blossoms, flower festivals for azaleas, roses, and calamus are held consecutively after April. There is also a children’s play area in the park, which is very suitable for parent-child games!
