Brief Introduction
Put into service on April 30, 1999, Shangri-la Airport was reconstructed during 2007 and 2008. The new expansion project is under preparation. It currently covers an area of 2543 acres, including a terminal of 3073 square meters, and a runway of 3600 meters (3937 yards). How to Travel between the Airport and Shangri-la County
There is no shuttle bus or city bus at the airport, so passenger can take a taxi to the county, which will take about 15 minutes and CNY 20-30. The fare to Shangri-la Coach Station is about CNY 15.

1. Haba Snow Mountain
Located in the southeast of Shangri-la County, it is 130 kilometers (81 miles) away from the county. The main peak is 5396 meters above sea level, and the lowest point is only 1550 meters above sea level, with a height difference of 3896 meters. The temperature difference from the foot to the top reaches 22.8℃. The reserve is established to mainly protect the natural landscape of vertical distribution of mountain forest and the wild animals and plants.
2. Pudacuo National Park
One of China's national parks, it is located 22 kilometers (13.5 miles) east of Shangri-la County with superb water and air quality. It mainly includes Bita Lake and Shudu Lake, with an elevation between 3,500 meters and 4,159 meters. The park has geological landforms, lakes and wetlands, forest meadows, valleys and streams, rare animals and plants, and the original ecological environment is well preserved.
3. Ganden Sumtseling Monastery
As the largest Tibetan Buddhist monastery in Yunnan province, it is 5 kilometers (3 miles) away from Zhongdian County. Built on the mountain, this temple is modeled after the layout of the Potala Palace in Lhasa, therefore, it is also known as "little Potala Palace". The main hall is grand and magnificent, the murals inside the hall are colorful and exquisite with the purpose of describing historical records and allusions and promoting Buddhist teachings. It collects eight gold-covered Buddha statues, Pattra-Leaf Scripture, Golden Tetra, and so on.
4. Meili Snow Mountain
Meili Snow Mountain, also known as prince snow mountain, is located between the Nujiang River and Lancang River, the middle section of Hengduan mountain range about 10 kilometers (6 miles) northeast of Deqin County, Yunnan Province. There are 13 peaks, with an average altitude of more than 6700 meters. In the 1930s, American scholars praised the main peak Kawakarpo Peak as “the most beautiful mountain in the world".
